Cornish Cruising's Yachtmaster Ocean programme is a 14 day course combining shorebased and yacht based tuition.
The course comprises 5 days of shorebased tuition, covering ocean passage planning and astro navigation, followed by 2 days planning and victualling your yacht in preparation for the final 7 days at sea where you will undertake a passage of over 600 nautical miles, accompanied by an RYA Instructor.
On returning to shore, there is a written examination conducted by an RYA Examiner, lasting approximately 3-4 hours. Question will be based on every aspect of your planning, passage, log, sights etc.
Successful candidates will gain their RYA Yachtmaster Ocean qualification.
